Iraqi Govt' to pass law that allows girls as young as 8 years to be married

By Tayo Atanda

This is definitely sad!

In Iraq, a new law will permit girls as young as 8 years old to be married.

This would subject wives to their husband's sexual whims. Although the said law doesn't mention a specific age, it says once the girls begin to reach puberty.

An Iraqi human rights activist said, "the law represents a crime against humanity and childhood. Married underage girls will be subjected to physical and psychological suffering".
